IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024: MVI presents technological innovation \u201cSensor Coating\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n From September 17 to 22, 2024, the IAA Transportation in Hanover opened its doors and provided a platform for the latest developments in transportation. MVI AUTOMOTIVE, which presented its \u201cSensor Coating\u201d innovation at the \u201cSpeaker’s Corner\u201d, was also there.<\/strong><\/p>\n In a 45-minute session, Dr. Stefan Mittermeier, Head of Business Development, and Marius Krause, Managing Director of MVI AUTOMOTIVE, together with our partners Jan van Well and Marc Melzner from AIVAM, presented the innovative \u201cSensor Coating\u201d technology. Kurzfristig wurden mit lokalen Partnerfirmen Auftr\u00e4ge abgewickelt z.B. f\u00fcr den Elektro-Abbau, den Einsatz von Gabelstaplern und Hebeb\u00fchnen.\" Dabei spielten ca. 20 slowakische Kolleg:innen vor Ort eine entscheidende Rolle, insbesondere bei der elektrischen und technischen Bauleitung der Gro\u00dfbaustelle.<\/p> Mit dem festen Ziel, den Zeitplan einzuhalten, arbeitete das Team drei Wochen lang in 24-Stunden-Schichten. \u201eDas war eine gro\u00dfe Herausforderung f\u00fcr uns alle\u201c, betont Hevier. The smart paint, which has already been tested in real-life application scenarios in the Netherlands, makes it possible to detect potential damage such as scratches, dents or temperature changes at an early stage using artificial intelligence. While identifying damage was often time-consuming and cost-intensive in the past, the paint with sensor function solves this information deficit and creates transparency. \u201cThis allows us to offer various target groups – from vehicle owners and manufacturers to fleet operators and insurers – an attractive solution for burglary prevention or efficient claims processing,\u201d explains Dr. Mittermeier.<\/p>\n
The IAA recorded an impressive ten percent increase in visitor numbers compared to the last event, with a total of 145,000 participants from all over the world. They came to find out about current trends and challenges in logistics and transportation. The focus was on sustainability and efficiency – key aspects that also formed the basis for the presentation of our smart technology.
Under the title \u201cSensor Coating\u201d, we explained how this technology could revolutionize current standards in fleet management. The industry’s current best practices are based on wire strips that are attached to the inside of semi-trailers. If these wires are cut, an intrusion can be detected, but the sensors have to be completely replaced afterwards. In contrast, the smart paint can be easily repaired like conventional paint, which represents a cost advantage over the standard solution.<\/p>\n
According to the TIS* database, a total of 919 freight offenses with a daily loss value of \u20ac 707,519 were reported in June 2024. The data was recorded in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, with Germany in first place with 219 incidents, followed by England with 168 and Italy with 157 offenses. Trucks, trailers, vehicles and aircraft were particularly affected. The biggest loss was caused by the theft of luxury watches worth \u20ac4,000,000 in Monaco. Thanks to real-time monitoring, the smart paint can detect potential break-in attempts at an early stage and enable preventive intervention.<\/p>\n
<\/strong>The presentation was a great success and underlines the immense potential of sensor coating technology to significantly improve efficiency and safety in transportation.
