Munich, 01.02.2023: The development partnership between PPG / Karl Wörwag Lack- und Farbenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG and MVI Group GmbH has developed a smart paint that maps the condition of a vehicle’s surface in real time, digitizing automotive processes such as claims management.
There is often a lack of information for all parties involved when the vehicle exterior is damaged. What happened when, where and how? And who caused it? In general, the condition of the vehicle surface is not documented or is only recorded visually at certain points in time. “If damage is detected, clarifying the situation afterwards is always costly and time-consuming, results are not available in real time and therefore cannot be attributed to the cause. Our paint solves this information deficit and creates transparency.
This allows us to offer various target groups, from vehicle owners and manufacturers as well as affiliated workshops to fleet operators and insurers, an attractive solution for the efficient processing of damage,” sums up MVI Head of Digital Solutions, Dr. Stefan Mittermeier.
However, this smart paint can be used to digitize not only the surface of vehicles, but also the surfaces of system components. We are currently working on the detection of liquids, temperature fluctuations and microcracks in hydrogen tanks and battery cells. Monitoring these components is a basic prerequisite for the safe operation of future generations of vehicles. These are just a few of the many advantages that this new technology will provide in the future.
MVI’s innovative Digital Solutions Team is constantly developing new services and technologies and is therefore a key driver for the mobility of tomorrow.
